Hello there! My name is Veta Wade, and I am a solutionist and thought leader whose mission is to accelerate 'data-driven' community-based conservation through collaboration with mission-driven innovators, NGOs, and companies to create new connections with communities that have yet to be invited into the marine conservation or blue innovation sector. I am especially interested in engaging youth and small-scale fishers in marine conservation and citizen science through my initiatives - Fish 'N Fins Inc. and Montserrat Marine Megafauna Project.

Let's collaborate to build 'data-driven'
community-based conservation

SPEAKING AND WORSHOPS

I do event talks and public speaking on topics that include diversity and equity, ocean justice, small-scale fisheries, self-care and resilience, and our blue economy. My work as an events speaker has taken me to academic institutions, global youth advocacy networks, local community groups, and more. It's also one of the ways I afford to be a single mom working in this field.

   PEOPLE EMPOWERMENT &

NEW TECH

I use a multi-method approach that will help to empower SIDS + territories to take the lead in exploring and protecting their marine environment. This method uses subject matter expertise, lived experiences, and facilitation skills to help build trust and lasting partnerships.

  • Co-design and develop  biodiversity monitoring tech

  • Accelerating ocean monitoring via community-led conservation

  • Supporting the activation of fisherfolk associations and cooperatives

  • Develop strategies to build buy-in and foster productive relationships.

  • Facilitate and co-design meetings/workshops.

  • Elicit and clarify stakeholder priorities.

  • Reach out to unengaged stakeholder groups.

  • Support partner identification and recruitment

  • Synthesize and translate complex information for a grassroots audience.

  • Bridge gaps between scientists and grassroots community to improve science-based decision-making

.

The future of conservation is

ACCESSIBLE, SUSTAINABLE , ACHIEVABLE
